Many people assume that the idea of African Americans having connections to the ancient Israelites only comes from within the Black community. But what if discussions about African Israelites are also being reported and acknowledged in Israeli media itself?
In this video, we explore how Israeli news outlets have reported on African communities that maintain traditions connected to the ancient Israelites. They have highlight groups such as the Igbo people, the Lemba people, and Beta Israel, whose customs, oral histories, and cultural practices have long been linked by some researchers to ancient Israelite traditions.
But the story doesn’t stop in Africa…
We will also show the community of African American Hebrews living in Dimona, often called the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem. This group migrated to Israel from Chicago in the late 1960s, believing they were descendants of the ancient Israelites who had been scattered into the diaspora through slavery.
Over the decades, this community has built a recognized presence in Israel. Their story has drawn international attention, and even major artists such as Whitney Houston visited and spent time with the community in Dimona.
This raises an important question:
If Israeli news and global researchers have openly discussed African and diaspora communities with Israelite traditions, why do many African Americans and Americans rarely hear about this history?
In this video we explore:
• Israeli news reports about African Israelite communities
• The African American Hebrew community in Dimona, Israel
• Cultural traditions linking African groups to ancient Israel
• The role of the diaspora and the transatlantic slave trade
• Why this information is often missing from mainstream education
This discussion invites viewers to examine history, media narratives, and identity from a broader global perspective.
