Archaeological discoveries, including the Elephantine papyri, reveal a Jewish military colony that lived, worshiped, and even maintained a temple to Yah during the Persian period.<\/p>\n<p>But what happened to these Israelites after Elephantine?<\/p>\n<p>This discussion traces a proposed historical path connecting these communities to the Daggatun (or Daggatoun)\u2014a group referenced in North and West African traditions as having Israelite or Jewish roots.
