After losing 1-0 to Spain in the final at MetLife Stadium, Argentina&#8217;s team drew widespread criticism for how they handled the loss \u2014 players got physical with celebrating Spanish players in a brawl immediately after the final whistle, and the team skipped their post-match media obligations entirely. Leandro Paredes faced particular backlash, with critics calling for a lifetime international ban after what many described as an assault on Spanish players.<\/p>\n<p>Even Argentina&#8217;s own press turned critical \u2014 newspaper Clar\u00edn wrote that the team &quot;displayed, both on and off the field, a range of values that are rare these days,&quot; calling it a side of the country they didn&#8217;t want to showcase.<\/p>\n<p>This capped off a tournament already dogged by fan behavior controversies.
