Ayanna Pressley that the Congressional Black Caucus called &quot;beyond dangerous,&quot; and his invocation of &quot;great replacement theory&quot; language. Critics argued he was strategically using this rhetoric to appeal to the GOP&#8217;s right flank; his defenders countered that he was calling out political exploitation of racism, not engaging in it himself.<\/p>\n<p>But as Ramaswamy&#8217;s 2026 campaign for Ohio governor has unfolded, the story has gotten more complicated. He&#8217;s faced racist attacks from within his own party \u2014 including a rival GOP candidate posting a video inviting him to play &quot;Cowboys and Indians&quot; while firing a gun, and birther-style claims questioning his citizenship, despite his parents having legally immigrated and his mother being a naturalized citizen. NBC News and The Washington Post have both described a genuine shift: the once &quot;anti-woke firebrand&quot; now more directly confronting racism and bigotry within his own party.<\/p>\n<p>A June 2026 controversy added another layer, after a resurfaced 2023 podcast clip in which Ramaswamy compared abortion rates to violence in Black communities drew criticism from Ohio Democrats, including Rep.
