Al-Zaidi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, chief negotiator Brig. Gen. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi \u2014 but Iranian officials say they&#8217;re not interested in a temporary deal that leaves control of the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.<\/p>\n<p>Araghchi told state media the issue isn&#8217;t a lack of mediators, but what he called &quot;America&#8217;s outlook, which is illogical, greedy, and controlling.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>In the most alarming detail, two Iranian officials said the country&#8217;s armed forces are actively preparing to expand the war regionally if Trump follows through on threats to strike Tehran or critical infrastructure directly \u2014 including striking Tel Aviv and asking Yemen&#8217;s Houthi rebels to close the Bab al-Mandab strait, a separate critical Red Sea shipping chokepoint.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as the U.S. completes its 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran, with explosions reported across southern Iran and air defenses activated in Tehran.
