This source reveals yet again the demonization of black people in the Middle Ages. However, this source can also be used to confirm the blackness of the El-Kahina. Like this black man being described in this part of the text, El-Kahina had ‘dark skin’ and ‘mass of hair’. The only difference is that her eyes turned ‘red’ when she was angry but nevertheless both were had ‘red eyes’ which is signature to how blacks were described. El-Kahina was also described as having “huge eyes” which was another descriptor used for blacks in the Middle Ages.

"And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." - John 8:45-47
