This source is important because it helps to paint a picture that Ashanti were an extremely active people. They were not just operating in West Africa, but they also had ties in the northern regions of Africa which were at times known as the Barbary Coast. This post should help individuals maintain the idea that it is entirely possible for a group of people to move from the northern regions of Africa to the more southernly regions of Africa and vice versa.
