The lancados, also known as Sephardic Jews or Spanish and Portuguese Jews, were definitely banished to the West Coast of Africa. This source confirms that many of them were black, some were mixed, and some were were the “same” (in my opinion this may mean they were white or appeared to be white). The source also reveals for us another name the banished Spanish and Portuguese Jews went by: Portingales. This source confirms yet again that Spanish and Portuguese Jews dwelt and mixed amongst local black populations, the Mandingos in this case, in West Africa.
