This source confirms the ancient origins of the Nabataeans people whom we have covered that they were black in other posts. This source reveals that Ashur literally meant black which could be an indication of one’s skin complexion in the ancient times. This source also provides some commentary on the wide range of “darkness” that the KEM and Ham cover which could allude to the wide range of skin color that Egyptians, Ethiopians, and Hamitic people came in general. This source provides some commentary on Niger, as well. I agree that Niger was a Jew by birth but in my opinion he was near black or pitch black thus he had the appellative of “Niger”. Remember, it can be argued that ancient Jews operated in on a “dark colorization” spectrum that ranged from the lightest of light skin colors to the darkest of darks such as Niger in this specific case.

"And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." - John 8:45-47
