Zondervan Bible Dictionary: Negroes Are Not From The Line of Ham

Source: Zondervan Compact Bible Dictionary

This is perhaps one of the best known references found within a major publication. The choice of words indicates that Negroes are from the line of Shem.

Zondervan - Ham Not The Origin of Negroes

Ham: The youngest son of Noah, born probably about 96 years before the Flood; and one of eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races; not the Negroes, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites.” – Zondervan Bible Dictionary

We know that Japheth is the origin of Europeans and Ham is the origin of Hamites in Africa and Arabia, which only leaves Shem as the origin of the Negroes. However, it is important to note that Zondervan does not provide any explanation for the statement as to why they don’t believe Negroes came from Ham.

UPDATE

After a series of claims made by some people in opposition to the truth, Zondervan issued an official response to this dictionary entry. The video below contains their direct contact information and they will respond in most cases.

"And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." - John 8:45-47
