This source confirms that the vast majority of the Portuguese who were established on the West Coast of Africa were tawny (mixed people or medium to light-skinned black people) and black people. This is important because it can allude to the notion that the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were black and mixed because they were known plainly as Portuguese at times.
