📜 HANUKKAH: THE AFRICAN ISRAELITES WHO FOUGHT FOR YAH — THE TRUE STORY
Hanukkah is not about dreidels, chocolate coins, or European traditions. It is a remembrance of African Israelites in the land of Israel who refused to assimilate into Greek (European) pagan culture. The history of our people is recorded not only in the Bible — but also by ancient historians like Josephus, who mentioned a city called Lemba in the land of Israel. Today, we see the descendants of that name in the Lemba Tribe of Southern Africa, as well as the Sena/Senna lineage mentioned in the Scriptures. These same people are the closest cousins to many African Americans.
Many Israelites in the land turned their backs on Yah, abandoning the covenant to embrace Greek gods, customs, and identities. But the true sons of Israel — the faithful remnant — rose up in the Maccabean revolt, choosing death over idolatry, standing firm for the Torah, the Sabbath, and the covenant identity given by Yah.
This is our story — the story of the scattered tribes of Israel across Africa and the Diaspora. Hanukkah is the celebration of those who would not sell their birthright to be accepted by European rulers. It is a reminder that the Messianic promise still shines, and that the African Israelites remain Yah’s chosen people, even through persecution, colonization, and forced assimilation.
