Viola Fletcher, one of the last survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, has passed away at 111 years old—after spending her entire life demanding justice, restitution, and recognition for the destruction of Black Wall Street. Fletcher testified before Congress, wrote books, traveled globally, and never stopped speaking about how the U.S. government failed to compensate Black survivors for one of the worst racial atrocities in American history.
