The Hebrew word Shavuot (שָׁבוּעוֹת) means “Weeks.”
It comes from the Hebrew word:
* Shavuot (שָׁבוּעוֹת) — “weeks”
* Root: shavua (שָׁבוּעַ) — “a seven” or “a week”
It is called “Weeks” because Yahuah commanded Israel to count seven complete weeks from the time of firstfruits.
Leviticus 23:15–16:
“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath… seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days…”
This is why it is also connected to the number fifty.
What Shavuot means in Scripture
🪔 1. Feast of Weeks
Shavuot is called the Feast of Weeks:
Exodus 34:22
“And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest…”
Hebrew:
* Chag (חַג) — feast/festival
* Shavuot (שָׁבוּעוֹת) — weeks
So:
Chag Shavuot = Feast of Weeks

It is also tied to the firstfruits harvest.
Numbers 28:26:
“Also in the day of the firstfruits…”
Hebrew:
* Bikkurim (בִּכּוּרִים) — firstfruits
This feast celebrated the beginning of the wheat harvest and the offering of the first increase unto Yahuah.

The counting toward Shavuot is called counting the seven weeks.
Deuteronomy 16:9:
“Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee…”
This counting later became known as counting the Omer.

In Acts chapter 2, the disciples were gathered on Shavuot.
Acts 2:1:
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come…”
“Pentecost” is the Greek way of saying “fiftieth,” but the Hebrew feast behind it is Shavuot.
This is when the Ruach HaQodesh was poured out.
So scripturally:
* Passover → redemption
* Firstfruits → resurrection life
* Shavuot → empowerment, Torah, covenant, and Ruach
