President Trump says scorching heat won’t stop him from delivering a marathon speech at Saturday’s "Salute to America 250 Celebration & Fireworks" on the National Mall, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
"By the way, on July 4th, it’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m going to go, and I’m going to make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything," Trump said this week.
The National Weather Service actually forecasts a high of 100°F, with the heat index climbing above 110°F — hot enough that DC officials are setting up water stations and misting stations along the National Mall for public safety.
In this video: what Trump said, what the real forecast is, when the event kicks off, and why some in the White House are already nervous about turnout.
